Since around fifth grade, Bavu dreamed of being one of the voices on vinyl rap records. Now, he has appeared on 21 vinyl recordings since the year 2000.

The El’s Mirror theme song – one of two vinyl records released by Hip Hop Grew Up – is based on the picture book co-authored by Bavu and his son. Ironically, this limited-edition 7-inch is the only record listed below where Bavu is only a co-writer, not an actual vocalist.
